The band which consists of Chicago Blues Legends "Johnny B. Gayden " - Albert Collins and the Ice Breakers- on Bass and 'Jerry "Bam Bam" Porter '- former drummer for Buddy Guy and James Cotton. Both are Chicago Blues Hall of Fame Inductees. On Keys is "Willie Styles" who briefly toured with the late Robert Ward. J R Clark fronts the band on vocals and guitar. Earning his dues over the years grinding away in the club scene and learning from his mentor Chicago Blues Legend "Lil Ed Williams"about showmanship, J R 's songwriting skills, vocals and string bending are showcased on this disc. J R Clarks growth in songwriting and as a vocalist are evident on songs which show his range like "Today, I Fell In Love All Over Again" (a soul ballad dedicated to his wife) to the title cut "January Rain" which has an Albert King feel with vocal spirit of Luther Allison and a special take on James Browns "It's A Man's World" where J R gives a heartfelt rendition of this classic. From the first track on this disc the title cut "When it all comes down" styled after the BB King version, you know you are in for an enjoyable ride of blues and soul! J R covered a 8 songs on this disc, the first time he has done this, besides four originals. Originals "Inner City" and "Clean Getaway" will satisfy the pallets of your rock blues fans. J R's heartfelt rendition of Michael Burks "Can you feel it" is a nice tribute to the Iron Man. Covers of soul hits "Can I Change My Mind" a popular hit for Tyrone Davis and "I Want to Ta-Ta You Baby" by Johnny Guitar Watson show off the bands versatility. A nice version of "Cross Cut Saw" , one of Albert Kings many hits jumps right off the disc! Jerry Porter's shuffle on original "A Little Bit Older" will get your feet tapping and hands clapping. The ballad "Hold On-I Feel Our Love Is Changing" covered by BB King and Joe Cocker shows off J R's vocal range. The bands cover of Donny Hathaways "The Ghetto" is spot on and there is even a romp through the french quarter of New Orleans with the bands original "Crawfishin'". The cover of Robert Ward's "Piece of Mind" is a driving tune like and Am Track train on full throttle. This disc has something for everyone!

The J R Clark Band has just recently released their newest CD. The group consists of J R Clark- vocals, guitar, Timson Taliaferro-drums, Sweet Ray Burke-Hammond organ, Boogie woogie Bob Peters-piano, Denny Love- bass, and Tim King-saxophone. From the opening cut on this disc, “Last Call Boogie”, which explodes right out of the barrel with a slide slinging tribute to JR’s mentor and friend Chicago Blues legend Lil’ Ed Williams of “Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials”, you know your in for a treat. The raucous slide guitar paired with a boogie woogie piano solo that must have melted some keys off is a great way to set the tone of what is to come. The band feels that this CD has really captured their energy and what it is like to see them live. JR really shows his slide prowess passed down to him from Lil’ Ed on four tracks that have that deep Chicago sound. All tracks were penned by JR Clark except “You Don’t Know”, a cover by the late great Luther Allison. There is a lot of variety with this disc from the blues rock ballad “Getaway” to even a little soul blues on “Let’s go out tonight- revisited”. JR has pulled no punches on this disc and wishes many great hours of listening enjoyment!
