J R Clark

The J R Clark Band has just released a new album “Time Ticks Away” in Nov 2025. This is J R Clarks 11th album release.  J R Clark, known for his original compositions has been recognized for his song writing skills. J R Clark although he has been considered a blues artist with that distinct Chicago Blues sound through the years, he has much more to him than being a blues artist. You can see many influences as you go through his discography of original material. From Soul, Blues, Funk and Rock J R Clark shows his versatility. No show is the same. J R Clark gets his stage presence and showmanship from his mentor Lil’ Ed Willams of Lil Ed and The Blues Imperials Fame who he has toured with on many occasions. He is known for his high energy, passionate performances that also were greatly influenced by artists like Luther Allison, Michael Burks and Larry McCray.

This act also consists of various artists who have toured both Nationally and Internationally. Alligator Record recording artist and Chicago Blues Hall of Famer Johnny B. Gayden holds down the bottom on Bass. Johnny B was Bassist for "Albert Collins and the Ice Breakers” for many years.  Johnny played on the Grammy winning album “Show Down” with Albert Collins, Robert Cray and Johnny Clyde Copeland. Johnny B. Gayden has also recorded with Johnny Winter, Gary Moore, BB King and a host of other Alligator Records artists. Johnny B Gayden has also toured with Larry McCray and the Staples Singers.

Award winning Drummer Randall Willis from Chicago, IL has worked and toured with the likes of Artie Blues Boy White, Tyrone Davis, Mississippi Heat, Joe Pratt, and Soul Blues Artist JoJo Murray.

Willie “Styles” Phipps performs on keyboards. Willie briefly toured with the late Robert Ward. Willie has also been known to be seen on stage with various Reggae acts over the years such as the Jah Kings and Zion Lion.

Rhythm guitar player Tom Eldred from Kalamazoo, MI who has worked with acts like “The Mainstays”, has most recently joined the band and is also a double threat on Hammond Organ.

Also, honorary band members from Chicago Johnny “Trombone” Cotton and Kenny Anderson who have both recorded with J R Clark and have performed on shows where horn section is requested. Johnny Cotton and Kenny Anderson tour with the Ohio Players.
